While angst in the office remains a fact of life, there's significantly less of it these days, according to a study by workplace consultant and author Rachelle Canter

Based on identical surveys she conducted in fall 2000 and in March, she found that workplace stress had dropped by 10 percentage points among single workers and 20 points among working parents. Forty-six percent reported workplace stress in the phone survey last month, compared with 66 percent who reported workplace stress in 2000. The random phone survey contacted 506 working adults last month and 1,305 in 2000.
